University of Florida does not publish an automatic merit grid
Gainesville, Florida
No published automatic grid — how merit works here
Most colleges in our calculator publish a grid that ties exact dollar amounts to GPA and test-score thresholds. University of Florida does not publish an automatic merit grid — so it is not in the calculator, and this page shows no exact award amounts for it. Below is how its merit actually works, taken from the college's own official text.
How merit works at University of Florida
UF does not publish an automatic merit grid and states there are no pre-set or minimum criteria. The Admissions Office awards a limited number of freshman merit scholarships using the same comprehensive review used for admission — grades and standardized test scores, plus extracurricular involvement, leadership, community service and the personal essay — judged against the strength of that year's applicant pool. No separate scholarship application is needed; admitted freshmen who apply by the priority deadline are considered. UF says approximately 10 percent of admitted freshmen receive a merit scholarship each year, and students with similar credentials may receive different decisions. Florida residents may separately qualify for the state Bright Futures program, which is a Florida Department of Education program, not UF institutional merit.
